A skin lightening peel is a skin treatment; which is used to improve and smooth out the surface of the facial skin. A chemical solution is used to remove top layers of skin, which allows the dead surface skin to peel off.
During the peel your skin will be cleansed and toned and the chemical peel will be applied to your skin using a gentle brush, the peel will be left on the skin for between three and five minutes, during which time some patients may experience a mild tingling or a mild burning sensation. Treated areas take about seven to 14 days to heal after a medium chemical peel, but redness might last for months. After a deep chemical peel, you'll experience severe redness and swelling.
Treated areas will develop new skin within about two weeks after a deep chemical peel, although redness might last for months.
The results of chemical peels can last anywhere from one month to the rest of your life. The longevity of a chemical peel's results depends on several factors, but the most significant factor is the strength of the peel. A light, or superficial, peel produces results that usually last between one and two months.
